ExperienceCSR is an award-winning and fun e-learning
business simulation that teaches participants
how to develop and implement effective

role of CSR Advisor to a hypothetical
company that is struggling to define
its role as a corporate citizen. While
considering business ethics, the environment,

CSR: Walking the Tightrope” is
a two-day practical workshop that teaches
participants the essentials of credible
CSR Communications.

Private Equity and
CSR
The Australian Centre for Corporate Social
Responsibility was pleased to host a panel
discussion on “The
Effect of Private Equity Takeovers on Corporate
Social Responsibility”,
in conjunction with ANZ, on the 16th May, 2007.
Provocative and insightful presentations were
made by Bob Welsh, Chief Executive of
VicSuper, Alison Tate, International Officer
at the Australian Council of Trade Unions and
David Tonuri, Head of ANZ Capital.
The discussion helped increase understanding
of the key CSR issues and challenges facing
the private equity industry and attracted over
50 participants including representatives from
AustralianSuper, Australian Council of Super
Investors, BHP Billiton, Coles Group, Investor
Group on Climate Change, Mitsui & Co, National
Australia Bank, Portfolio Partners, SP AusNet,
Toyota, Transurban and World Vision. For

New CSR Appointments
Jason Clare, Transurban’s Corporate
Affairs Manager NSW, has been selected as the Labor
candidate for Blaxland, the seat of
the former Prime Minister Paul Keating. Jason
was previously a senior policy adviser to former
New South Wales Premier Bob Carr. In his role
as Corporate Affairs Manager for Transurban,
Jason has been deeply involved in developing
and implementing the company’s corporate
social responsibility and community engagement
policies and practices.
Lena Geraghty has been appointed Corporate
Social Responsibility Manager of Corporate
Express. The newly-created position
is a reflection of the company’s commitment
to offering a sustainable supply chain. Lena,
previously an Account Director with Corporate
Express, holds a BA (Hons) in Sociological
and Political Studies, a Higher Diploma in
Business Studies and is currently undertaking
a Masters Degree in Commerce with a focus on
Sustainability. Some of Lena’s projects
will include refining Corporate Express’ Corporate
Social Responsibility strategy and working
with customers to help them achieve their own
CSR objectives by providing them with access
to a sustainable supply.
World Vision Australia has
created and filled a new position: CSR Policy
Advisor. Misha Coleman will
be responsible for progressing World Vision's
internal and external CSR policies and programs.
Misha has been working in community and international
development most of her professional life,
and has just returned from seven years in South-east
Asia, where she worked in varying roles, developing
public-private sector partnerships. She can

The Sixth ACSI Investors Annual Conference

The theme of the sixth annual conference of
the Australian Council of Super Investors is
a company’s “Licence to Operate.” The
program for the day will cover the environmental,
social and governance spectrum to assist, equip
and empower trustees in monitoring ESG risks.

New National Award for Volunteering
Volunteering Australia has launched the Award
for Excellence in Corporate Volunteering,
which recognises excellence in employee volunteering
programs. Nominations can be submitted online
until Friday 8 June, 2007 at www.volunteeringaustralia.org
